Report finds Cambodia’s land disputes back on the rise
Following a dip in 2009, new land disputes increased last year by more than 50 percent to 28, while the total number of ongoing cases is now 282, according to a report released yesterday by the NGO Forum. Culled from media and field reports, each recorded land dispute case was then screened and verified repeatedly. Twenty-eight new cases were recorded in 2010 – an uptick from the 18 cases in 2009, but still significantly less than the 48 cases reported in 2008.
